Dove Cameron Writes Powerful Message About Negativity

Along with a really brilliant solution.

Dove Cameron is totally over negativity on social media, and she's not afraid to let anyone know it — including her 1.2 million Twitter followers.

The Descendants star recently took to social media to call out a problematic trend of "pitting women against each other." And she's right in pointing it out — we see examples of this all the time in the press, as well as online.

"STOP PITTING WOMEN AGAINST EACH OTHER," Dove wrote in all caps for emphasis. "Stop putting people down [and] creating darkness. Chill oouutt. Let people be. Go laugh at something funny." The actress went on to say that it's "exhausting to live in negativity" and that we should all focus on ourselves.

But the best part of her tweetstorm came later when she proposed a brilliant solution for dealing with negativity: an abundance of dancing. "Let's dissipate negativity by forcing angry people into dance parties," she wrote. We are so here for that suggestion, and it's clear that her fans are too. Her messages acquired thousands of retweets and likes, and her followers were quick to echo their support.

While it's unclear what sparked Dove's thread, it's important to note that she makes some great points. There's certainly a lot of negativity on social media these days, and we should all do a better job of simply being nicer to one another — and to ourselves. It's great to have celebrities like Dove who help remind us of what's important, and who encourage fans to embrace kindness and positivity every step of the way.
