R. Kelly Reportedly Holding Women Against Their Will in a "Cult"

According to a new report from BuzzFeed News, R&B singer R. Kelly has been manipulating young women for a number of years and has housed them where he “controls every aspect of their lives.”

According to a new report from BuzzFeed News, R&B singer R. Kelly has allegedly been holding young women captive in what some parents are calling a “cult.” He reportedly “controls every aspect of their lives: dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they bathe, when they sleep, and how they engage in sexual encounters that he records.”

The news outlet talked to the parents of one of the allegedly captive girls, J. and Tim (whose full names were kept anonymous for privacy), who met Kelly back in May 2015 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. At the time, it seemed like the famed musician was going to be helping their daughter jump-start her own music career. Now, a few years later, the parents are attempting to bring their daughter home, and they say she now appears to be “brainwashed.”

Their daughter is reportedly not the only woman who is being held captive by Kelly. Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones, and Asante McGee, three former close contacts of Kelly’s, have gone on the record with more information regarding the “cult.” Mack described Kelly as a “puppet master.” Jones and McGee, who lived and had sexual relationships with Kelly, say their social media was heavily controlled while living with him. The three also told BuzzFeed News that there are six women living in properties rented by Kelly in the suburbs of Atlanta and Chicago.

The report also alleges that Kelly makes these women call him “Daddy” and films his sexual encounters with them, then shares the videos with men in his social circle.

In 2008, Kelly was acquitted in a child pornography case. He was accused of making a 27-minute sex tape with an underage girl.

Kelly did not reply to BuzzFeed News’s repeated requests for comment.
